Some of our unpaid co-workers at the worm venture :
Intruducing our cat, called MIEUW*, she is nine and a half years old.
Her task is to inspect the food as it arrives in bulk by trailer, a task she takes very seriously. she has a disapproving expression on her face in the picture at left.
The bottom picture depicts Mieuw relaxing on top of the boxes.
She may be listening for that mouse, it could be in the box under the
covers, Mice and rats will eat the worms if you don't keep them out of the boxes.
Mieuw is assisted by the neighbouring cats (6), they also visit the wormshed regularly.
The fantail, a typical New Zealand bird, absolutely fearless as far as the cats is concerned, it's task is to keep the shed free from those annoying small sandflies, which are attracted by the smells just after feeding time.
